Within the next few weeks, we will be publishing a report in the bulletin with important highlights from our program.

Each and every one of you is a cherished part of our parish community and we want to hear from you! We encourage everyone to make a renewed commitment to the Sunday Offertory. Receiving all commitment cards

is important to us, so please return your card with a prayer request even if you are unable to financially respond.

You can return your card today by:

    • Mailing it in the envelope included with your letter (additional cards are at the back of the Church),
    • Bringing your Commitment Card to Mass next Sunday OR
    • Visiting our website at www.stmichaelgreenwich.com to complete an electronic Commitment Card and signup for Online Giving. (While Online Giving improves parish cash flow management, offertory envelopes are always available to use.)

How are we funding our mission?

    Only with your help!

Financially supporting one’s parish is one of the precepts of the Catholic Church. We recognize that everything we have is a gift from God and we respond with gratitude to his blessings by giving back.

Our Sunday Offertory is down and to date, we have reached only 14% participation in the Offertory Renewal Program. We have received 51 responses from 364 active contributing Sunday donors BUT we have 1,100 parishioners…. we need everyone to help support our parish.

Thank you to all parishioners who have completed and submitted their Commitment Cards. For those who have not, we invite you to complete your card and help us reach our goal of 100% participation.

    Please return your card today:

    • Mail it to the church using the pre-addressed envelope included with your letter
    • Bring your Commitment Card to Mass next Sunday OR
    • Visit our parish website at www.stmichaelgreenwich.com to complete an electronic commitment and signup for online giving today!

Stewardship is an expression of gratitude to God for everything we have.

    Commitment Weekend

Thank you for celebrating Commitment Sunday with us this weekend. As you read in the “Fueling Our Mission” Brochure mailed out last week, since 2018 the Sunday Offertory has been consistently

declining with 2023’s offertory down 15% over the past five years. Our goal with this Offertory

Renewal Program is to reverse this downward trend and to build back to sustainable levels to ensure the continued vibrancy of our ministries and to support our increasing and ongoing operating expenses.

As you consider your commitment to our parish in the Offertory, we encourage all parishioners to

spend time in prayer reflecting on the good works we do. These are questions to ponder in your

    heart:

    • How has your parish community helped you to grow in your faith? (Mass, Adoration, WWP, Retreats, Music, Faith Formation)
    • Where have you encountered sharing in the joy of God’s love and mercy (The Sacraments, the Rosary, Emmaus Retreats, Bible Study, Music)
    • How have you been accompanied, included, listened to, and comforted? (Reconciliation, Retreats, Spiritual Direction, WWP, Bereavement Work, Prayer Groups)
    • How and when have you celebrated in community? (Parish Picnic, Advent by Candlelight, Women’s Association and Men’s Ministry Events)
    • How and where have you joyfully served to bring Christ to others? (Outbound Eucharistic Ministers, Community Service, Food Drives, Prayer Shawls)

The Offertory Renewal Committee is asking you to be thoughtful about financially supporting

eaningful way and prayerfully makes the following recommendations:

    100% Participation in this Program

    • Increase Offertory revenue by 25+%
    • Sign up for Online Giving — create a pattern of consistent giving!
    • Renew your commitment to the weekly Offertory with a gift of $30+ (or as you are able)

Your commitment to our parish through our “Fueling our Mission of Worship, Community & Service” Offertory Renewal Program will continue to bring life to our community. If completing your Commitment Card was not possible at Mass, visit our parish website www.stmichaelgreenwich.com and complete an electronic Commitment Card or mail your card to the Parish Office.

Thank you for your generosity and support of St. Michael the Archangel Parish!

Showing our gratitude to God is at the heart of stewardship. Stewardship is a way of life, it is the realization that everything comes from God and we are blessed to be stewards of God’s gifts. For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.’ 1 Corinthians 3:9

    Ministry Fair Weekend

This Sunday we celebrate our Ministries. Needs are met through the hands and hearts of God’s people. As we continue to re-energize our ministries and organizations, today we celebrate those efforts at our Ministry Fair. Our Ministries are the ‘hearts, heads and hands’ of our parish community. This is why we have been focused on Stewardship Education and the importance of your financial support of your parish home… the growth in our Ministries is exciting and we want to keep moving forward. We are grateful for their good works that unite us in community, fueling our faith and service.

This week you will receive a brochure in the mail officially kicking-off our Offertory Renewal Program, “Fueling our Mission of Worship, Community & Service.” We invite each of you to participate in this important offertory effort. Please prayerfully consider how you and your family can help St. Michael Parish by financially supporting our operating budget and fueling our ministries, both furthering our mission and reinforcing our future.

Our Sunday Offertory keeps the “light on” and is key to sustaining the works of our parish.

The primary goals of the Offertory Renewal Program are:

    • 100% Participation in this Program

    • Increase Offertory revenue by 25+%

    • Sign up for Online Giving

    • Renew your commitment to the weekly Offertory with a gift of $30+ (or as you are able)

We are asking all parishioners to thoughtfully consider how you will support the parish.

    Commitment Weekend is October 1st

Next weekend, we ask all parishioners to complete a Commitment Card for our Sunday Offertory.

A card will be included in the brochure mailing and can be brought to church to be dropped off in

the special collection basket at the back of the church, can be mailed to the parish office or visit

our parish website to complete an electronic Commitment Card at www.stmichaelgreenwich.com. The back of the Commitment Card has a place to include any prayer intentions you wish to share.

Thank you for your generosity and support of St. Michael the Archangel Parish!

    The Widow’s Mite

When he looked up, he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow put in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.” Luke 21: 1-4

    What is fuel?

It propels us forward and helps us get to where we need to be. As a parish community

we are committed to the three foundational pillars in our mission statement …Worship, Community and Service. But to make these pillars strong and to move them forward, we need to fuel them.

In the State of the Parish Report, distributed May 2022, we noted a decline in offertory

contributions over the last few years and this downward trend continues. While this may have been one of the impacts of COVID, we have not yet returned to the pre-pandemic

level of contributions. And yet, the need for the good works and community service of

St. Michael the Archangel Parish has never been stronger.

This month we will be introducing our new Offertory Renewal Program called “Fueling our Mission of Worship, Community & Service.” This effort is very important for the financial health of our parish. The program is designed to reestablish our commitment to a sustained Sunday offertory to support the operating expenses of the parish and all our good works.

We will celebrate our Commitment Weekend on October 1st at our Parish Picnic. Your

renewed commitment to our offertory supports your parish home. Let us rejoice and be exceedingly glad as we celebrate our parish community at our annual picnic.

Responsible Stewardship strengthens our Parish & our Faith

The Sunday Offertory or the “basket collection” at Sunday Masses is your opportunity to support the workings of our parish. Your weekly contributions go directly to the ‘parish checkbook’ for operating expenses and pays to keep the lights on and much more! Each one of us has a part to play. We are called to practice stewardship of our time, talent and treasures in the service to the mission of the Church.

“Remember that when you leave this earth, you take with you nothing that you have received — only what you have been given:

A full heart enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.”

    — St. Francis of Assisi
