Bereavement Ministry

Bereavement Ministry

“New Day” Journey to Healing. You are not alone in your grief. New Day is a 9-week, faith-based program for anyone who is living with the loss of a loved one, whether recently or in the past.

This program consists of weekly sessions following a text, The New Day Journal, which has received a special award of merit by the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers. Trained parish facilitators conduct the program. All meetings take place in an intimate, small group, and a confidential setting. Meeting times are to be determined, check the website for the most current information. There is no charge, but registration is required as the meeting size is limited.

We are here to accompany you on your journey from grief to healing. We are announcing a new collaboration among the local parishes in our community to support and comfort those who may be suffering the loss of a loved one. The collaboration includes the parishes of St. Michael, St. Catherine of Siena in Greenwich, and St. Thomas Moore in Darien.

Please contact the parish office at 203-869-5421 to be put in touch with one of our bereavement ministers.

God of Life, there are days when the burdens we carry

chafe our shoulders and wear us down,

when the road seems dreary and endless,

the skies gray and threatening,

when our lives have no music in them,

and our hearts are lonely,

and our souls have lost their courage.

Flood the path with light,

We beseech thee Lord.

Turn our eyes

To where the heavens are full of promise.

Your loss may be recent or long ago.  We are here to help you on your journey to healing where you are invited to share your story, and to find comfort in a supportive, confidential environment.

God will support you in your sorrow, and He will walk with you as you begin your journey through loss to healing.

Meetings take place in a small-group confidential setting, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Greenwich and are led by trained bereavement facilitators. There is no charge.

St. Michael Parish is partnering with the Bereavement Initiative of the Fairfield County Catholic Cemeteries to offer this program. Please go to their website to submit a Program Inquiry Form.  CLICK on the LINK below:
