Women's Emmaus

Emmaus IX Retreat

The Emmaus retreat is based on the account in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 24: 13-35). Two disciples encounter the risen Christ in a profound way on the road to Emmaus.

Emmaus, a weekend-long guided retreat, is designed to renew and strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ. Participants (walking disciples) are invited to experience God’s love, away from distractions and demands of everyday life. There is time for prayer and worship, for celebration of Mass and Sacraments, for immersion in faith-filled and scripture-focused conversations, for silence and fellowship. With an awakened awareness of Jesus among us, we have the opportunity to deepen in faith and meet others who share this grace-filled Emmaus journey. It is a time we set aside for personal encounter with our loving God, so alive and present in our midst.

In Bishop Frank Caggiano’s fourth talk on “The One” he says: “The road to Emmaus found the disciples who were in such great need that they allowed the Lord to touch them, and they were forever changed.” In spending time in retreat with other women of faith, and taking the Emmaus gospel to heart, we have an opportunity to hear Jesus’ personal invitation to encounter, accompany and be changed by Him.

No, all women are welcome. However, the retreat is rooted in the Catholic faith.

Yes, after the retreat we continue to pray together, to share and to prepare to serve in the next retreat, as we grow in our relationship with God and one another.

Participation in the retreat as a “walking disciple” comes first. After making the retreat you are welcomed into the Emmaus community as we continue to journey together.

The total cost of the weekend retreat is $350.00 per person. This price includes full board: meals, snacks, and a single room with bath.
